Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the ScanEase mobile application ("the App") available on Google Play Store, developed by [Your Developer Name / Company Name] ("we", "our", or "us").
This policy is designed to be general enough to apply to any utility app that uses device camera, local storage, and optional advertising — so you can reuse it for other apps by updating the app name and contact details.
Data We Collect
The App collects minimal data — only what is necessary to show advertisements and improve app performance. We do not require any account creation, login, or personal registration.
| Data Type | Why It's Collected | Stored Where | Shared? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ad identifier (Ad ID) | Used by Google AdMob to show relevant ads | Google's servers | AdMob only |
| Crash reports | To identify and fix app bugs automatically | Firebase Crashlytics | Google only |
| App usage analytics | Anonymous feature usage stats (no user identity) | Firebase Analytics | Google only |
| Scanned documents | Stored locally on your device for your use | Your device only | Never shared |
| QR scan history | Saved locally for your own reference | Your device only | Never shared |
Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be completely transparent about what we do not do.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identity information
- We do not upload, transmit, or store your scanned documents or photos on any server
- We do not access your contacts, call logs, messages, or any other personal app data
- We do not track your real-time location or GPS coordinates
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties for marketing purposes
- We do not require an account, registration, or sign-in to use the App
- We do not share data with insurance companies, employers, government entities, or data brokers
App Permissions Explained
The App requests the following Android permissions. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose — nothing more.

To save scanned PDF files to your device and to read existing images from your gallery for scanning | No |
| INTERNET | Required only to load Google AdMob advertisements. Not used by core scanning features. | Ad data only |
| ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | To check internet connectivity before attempting to load ads — avoids errors on offline devices | No |
| VIBRATE | Optional haptic feedback when a QR code scan is successful | No |
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party SDKs. Each has its own privacy policy which governs the data they collect independently.
- Google AdMob — Displays advertisements. May collect your advertising ID and general device info. Google Privacy Policy →
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — Collects anonymous crash reports to help us fix bugs. No personally identifiable information. Firebase Privacy →
- Google ML Kit — Used on-device for document edge detection and image enhancement. Runs entirely on your device — no data is sent to Google's servers. ML Kit Terms →
- ZXing (QR/Barcode library) — An open-source library used for QR code and barcode reading. Runs entirely offline, collects no data whatsoever.
- Google Play Billing — Used to process one-time Pro upgrade payments. Payment data is handled entirely by Google — we never see or store your payment details.
We do not use Facebook SDK, TikTok SDK, or any advertising network other than Google AdMob.
Data Storage & Security
All documents, PDFs, and QR scan history generated by the App are stored only on your device in the app's private storage directory or in your device's Downloads/Documents folder (if you choose to save files there).
- Scanned files are never transmitted to any external server or cloud storage by us
- Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored app data permanently
- We do not operate any servers that store user files or personal data
- Data retention for anonymous analytics (via Firebase) follows Google's standard retention policies of up to 14 months
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us immediately at the email below and we will take steps to delete such information.
Your Rights
Depending on your country or region, you may have rights regarding data privacy. Since we do not collect identifiable personal data, most of these apply primarily to anonymous analytics data held by Google.
- Delete your data — Uninstall the App. This deletes all locally stored files and stops any future data collection immediately.
- Opt out of personalized ads — Go to your Android Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization" to reset or disable your advertising ID.
- GDPR (EU users) — You have the right to access, correct, or erase data held about you. Contact us and we will assist or direct you to Google's data request tools.
- CCPA (California users) — We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what data is collected — this policy provides that disclosure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or third-party service changes. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Post the updated policy at the same URL used in the Play Store listing
- Show an in-app notice for significant changes that affect how your data is handled
Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
